PU foam calculator

Work out the volume of sprayed polyurethane foam and its weight from the density, or the number of sets from the theoretical yield per set, with the spray loss.

Inputs

The values shown are an illustrative example, not product data; replace them with your project values and the approved TDS.

Input method
m²

The net area to be treated, without waste.

mm

The finished foam thickness required.

kg/m³

From the TDS of the approved product.

%

Wind, heat and the surface profile raise the site loss.

Weight1,294 kg

How it is calculated

  1. Volume (m³) = area × thickness (mm) ÷ 1000
  2. With loss = volume × (1 + loss %) · weight = volume with loss × density
  3. Sets = round up [ volume with loss ÷ yield per set ]

QQuestions

Questions clients ask

How is a spray PU foam quantity calculated?

Volume = area × thickness, multiplied by the in-place foam density from the data sheet to get the weight, plus spray waste; the protective top coat is calculated separately.
