What this detail solves
Every pipe through a roof or a wet-area floor breaks the waterproofing, so it is detailed on its own before the field membrane: the pipe runs through a cast-in sleeve with the annular gap sealed, a reinforcing patch goes around the penetration, and a collar of the same system is turned up the pipe, clamped with a stainless-steel band and sealed at the top. Pipes need enough space from each other and from walls for the full detail.
Critical points
- Fix pipes and sleeves before waterproofing; no penetration is added afterwards without a detail.
- Turn the collar up the pipe to h above the finished level, as specified.
- Clean and abrade the pipe, or prime it with a primer suited to its material (PVC, steel …), for adhesion.
- Use a stainless-steel clamping band and seal the top edge of the collar with a compatible sealant.
- Pipes through tank and basement walls are usually cast in with a puddle flange — a different detail.
